The event

Last year, one in every five commercial licences generated by Ireland’s higher education sector was secured by DIT through commercialising its research. On Tuesday 19th June 2012 DIT will host a major Innovation Showcase on its Aungier St campus from 3pm to 7pm and we would like to invite you to come and see some of this outstanding industry-focused research.

We are delighted that Séan Sherlock,TD, Minister of State, Department of Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation and Department of Education & Skills with responsibility for Research & Innovation will open the exhibition at 3pm.

At the exhibition DIT staff will be delighted to meet with you to chat about their research and to show you what they have achieved to date. Our technology transfer centre Hothouse will highlight the intellectual property available to licence and funding organisations will provide information on their funding programmes.

We will have two parallel sessions between 4pm and 5pm which will be repeated again at 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Session I A series of short presentations describing DIT's research focus and highlighting key projects, technologies and outcomes.

Session II A series of short presentations highlighting key funding opportunities for industry.

Please register for the events you would like to attend by selecting a ticket above. We will repeat the presentations so you can choose the time that best suits you for each of the presentations.

DIT's research focus

DIT's research is consolidated into four major research themes: Environment & Health;  Information & Media Technologies; New Materials & Technologies; and Society, Culture and Enterprise and the showcase will focus on research and researchers working within these themes in DIT's research Institutes and designated R&D Centres.

Closer to the day we will provide you with a summary of the research being highlighted. You will then be able to pre-book face-to-face meetings in advance of the event or you can just pop in and browse, but more about that later! Here is a taste of just some of the research we will be presenting at the event:

  • Assistive technologies
  • WLAN enhanced utilisation software
  • Text analysis software
  • Cervical cancer analyser
  • Energy flow simulation software
  • Light-activated anti-bacterial coating
  • Anti-oxidant rich food ingredients
  • Technologies to extend the shelf-life of foods
  • Advanced audio processing technology
